Bellus Profile: Balanced & Sweet
Some coffees make their impression by pushing one characteristic to the front. This one does the opposite.
This honey processed Costa Rica from Tarrazú brings sweetness, body, and just enough brightness together in a cup where nothing needs to compete for your attention. Milk chocolate and pecan provide a rich foundation, while honeyed sweetness carries through the cup. A subtle fruit character adds lift and clarity without pulling the coffee away from its warm, balanced center.
It is a beautiful example of what we mean by Balanced & Sweet. There is familiarity in the chocolate and toasted nuts, but there is more to discover in the sweetness and gentle fruit character surrounding them. You can simply enjoy the cup, or pay a little more attention and see what else you find.
As espresso, the coffee becomes rich and concentrated, bringing forward caramelized sugar, milk chocolate, and toasted nuts with a soft citrus glow. As filter, the honeyed sweetness becomes more expressive, with a clean finish and lingering warmth.
The honey process plays an important role in creating that experience. After the coffee cherry is removed, some of the fruit's sticky mucilage remains on the seed while it dries. This can contribute additional sweetness and body to the finished coffee.
You do not need to know any of that to enjoy it.
That is part of what we love about this coffee. It can introduce you to a different process, origin, or expression of sweetness without asking you to become a coffee expert first. Start with the cup. Decide what you like. The rest is there if you want to explore it.
