Timor Leste
Ducurai Village, Ermera | Timor Hybrid, Typica | 1300 to 1500 masl
This certified organic microlot from Timor Leste is both distinctive and familiar, offering layered sweetness with a smooth, almost fudge like texture. Produced by eleven smallholder farmers in Ducurai Village and organized through Café Brisa Serena, it reflects the quiet depth and resilience of this unique origin.
The cup is balanced and composed. Brown sugar and caramel sweetness form the foundation, supported by notes of fudge and a gentle fruit undertone of grape and melon. The body is smooth and buttery, carrying a natural sweetness that feels welcoming rather than overpowering. It is expressive without being fruit dominant, offering nuance and clarity instead of trend driven intensity.
This coffee stands confidently apart from louder fruit forward profiles, yet remains firmly rooted in modern specialty quality. It is clean, layered, and deeply satisfying.

Additional Information
Timor Leste’s coffee industry is small in scale but deeply significant, with nearly a quarter of the population relying on coffee production for livelihood. The island is historically important to the coffee world as the origin of the Timor Hybrid, a natural cross of local robusta and typica discovered in the early twentieth century. Its genetic resilience has influenced countless cultivars across producing countries today.
The interior highlands of Ermera rise quickly from the humid coast into lush, rugged terrain. The Ducurai community sits near the slopes surrounding Tatamailau, the country’s highest peak. For the past decade, Café Brisa Serena has worked closely with smallholder farmers in this region to strengthen farm management, processing practices, and traceability.
This microlot reflects both heritage and progress, offering a thoughtful and carefully produced expression of Timor Leste’s emerging specialty potential.
